It is not simply a matter of whether or not one practices charity that is the deciding factor. The objects of the charitable acts are “these brothers of mine” (Mat 25:40), and that means His disciples. Jesus is setting up the principle, as He does elsewhere, that the world will be judged by how it responds to the apostles who He is sending into the World. Charity is always to be encouraged but all the charitable acts in the world will not get you into Heaven if you reject the apostolic doctrine and that doctrine is found in the Bible and in the hearts of Christians today.
